We have spent years educating ourselves regarding best practices in training, breeding, and living with our dogs.
We are active members of the Mississippi State Kennel Club (MSKC) and members in good standing of the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA.)
Sam was in the US Air Force for 23 1/2 years, moving us around the country and even to Germany.  That was a great experience.
I was a home economics teacher for 13 years in Nebraska and San Antonio, TX.  I've also spent around three years working part-time in vet's offices.
We didn't get active in dogs until after our two children were grown and out of the house.

Our Goldens in Competition

We are coming along with our involvement in dog competition.  Louie was in one Rally trial, qualifying for his first "leg."  He was aging and slowing down so much, Sam decided he needed to just rest.  He died in February of 2009.

Cheznie, Louie's daughter, earned her Rally Novice title in December 2007.  That was my first ever title!  She died May 2009.  (rough year)

With Darby we are in training for Rally and Obedience.  Darby earned her Rally Excellent title in June 2010.  We continue with training for Rally Advanced Excellent and Obedience. She earned her Companion Dog (CD) July 2011.

Betsy earned her Rally Advanced title July 2011.  We also compete in Conformation with her.   Louie, Cheznie, Darby and Betsy all earned their Canine Good Citizen "title."   http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/index.cfm  Darby and Betsy passed their Therapy Dog International test July 9, 2011.

Bevo will be training for the Conformation ring.
New to Mississippi

We moved here from San Antonio, Texas, in May of 2006, so we are new to the dog world in Mississippi.  In Texas we were members of the Delta Society which is involved in certifying pets for visits in schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and many other places.  Louie and Cheznie were both "Delta Dogs" and had been for six and four years, respectively.  In Mississippi, Therapy Dogs International serves this function.  Louie passed his TDI test in October 2006.

We moved to Ridgeland, MS, because our daughter and her family moved here.  As much as we love the dogs, we loved our grandchildren even more and couldn't bear to be apart from them.  Sam works from home, so we could live anywhere that gets a good internet connection and is close to an airport.
